NPP announces date to elect its presidential candidate for 2028 election
Ghana’s largest opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the date for its Presidential primaries.
This comes after the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Tuesday, June 17 held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The meeting was chaired by the first vice chairman, Danquah Smith Buttey, due to the indisposition of the national chairman, Stephen Ntim.
In attendance was the former vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, general secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, majority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and Ashanti regional chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako.
The part has set Saturday, January 31, 2026, for its Presidential primaries. The meeting was also used to deliberate on proposed constitutional reforms by the Prof Mike Oquaye committee.
