In this video that has garnered widespread attention, a Ghanaian mother visited her son’s school, and asked permission to lash him over disrespect to his teachers.
According to reports, this incident occured after boy’s teacher complained of his inabilty to discipline the child due to the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) policy against corporal punishment in schools. In the trending video, the mother was captured flogging her son as some of his classmates restrain him on a desk holding both hands and leg.
Social media users who have come across the video have divided opinion. While some have applauded the mother for her disciplinary action, others have condemned the act as excessive and humiliating. As of this writing, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has yet to issue an official response to the incident.
