The Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Odeefuo Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, has pledged to spearhead the development of key tourist attractions in Sunyani.

In an address on Sunday, June 9, during an adult session of the Ogyeamansan Party in the Park at the Sunyani Children’s Park, he noted that Sunyani will tourist attractions such as a zoo, canopy walkway, and other recreational facilities.

According to the Paramount Chief, the long-abandoned Children’s Park would be transformed into a vibrant educational and recreational center that would enhance the city’s appeal and contribute to its socioeconomic development.

He revealed that the park and its library, left unused for over two decades, will soon undergo major renovations hence becoming a hub for learning, relaxation, and tourism, aligning with government efforts to reset Ghana’s development agenda.

Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II also revealed plans for a 40,000-capacity theatre to host cultural and social events, aiming to position Sunyani as a prime destination for businesses, residents, and international visitors.

He further commended President John Dramani Mahama for pledging to support Sunyani’s development, including the construction of an ultra-modern market complex and a medical school at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).

Ogyeamansan advised the youth to desist from the use of illicit substances like tramadol and other hard drugs, urging them to embrace healthy lifestyles to fully benefit from the opportunities that the city’s transformation will bring.
