The Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area (Sunyanimanhene), Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II has announced the introduction of a biometric system for land registration in the area.

According to him, this will reduce land disputes, promote transparency in land ownership records, and address the rising cases of land litigation in Sunyani. He made the announcement during a courtesy visit by the Bono Regional Office of the Stool Lands Office to his Palace on Thursday.

The delegation was led by Mrs. Georgia Rockson, Regional Director, and included Mr. Samuel Asamoah, Head of Human Resource and Administration, and Mr. Morgan Mensah, Accountant. The Sunyanimanhene expressed concern about the increasing number of land-related disputes in the area and stated that the Traditional Council would take firm steps to bring order to land administration.

He said the biometric registration, to be coordinated by the Lands Secretariat under the Traditional Council, would help stop land guard activities and improve proper record keeping and control. The visit, according to the Stool Lands Office, formed part of efforts to strengthen traditional land governance and deepen collaboration between the Office and the Traditional Council.

The Regional Stool Lands Office commended the STC for its continuous support in stool land administration and pledged to assist the new Lands Secretariat with technical guidance, training, and logistics. Mr. Ransford Antwi, Chairman of the Lands and Property Committee of the STC, thanked the delegation and acknowledged their past support in matters relating to land management.
