The first gentleman of the land, President John Dramani Mahama has promised to construct standard stadium facilities in the Bono Region and the six newly created regions to promote sports development.

He made the announcement during his “Thank You” tour of the Bono Region on Friday, May 30. He noted that the absence of fit-for-purpose sports infrastructure in many regions limits the development of sports and the growth of young talents.

“To advance sports development across all regions, it is essential to provide those that currently lack fit-for-purpose stadia with new ones,” he stated. “I am pleased to announce that the Bono Region, along with the six newly created regions, has been included in the plan to receive modern stadiums to boost sports development.”

The six new regions are Ahafo, Bono East, Oti, North East, Savannah, and Western North. Mr Mahama said the construction of the stadiums would form part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s development agenda should the party return to power.
